Abstract
In this 21st century communication plays very important role. Communication is used by approximately 90% of population , by Law Enforcement and Defence. At the time of war communication plays crucial role. Without communication war is more like running blind on road full of traffic.
In modern era communication is divided in 2 main categories ,wired and wireless. Wired communication is not suitable for on field communication where person/entity is travelling continuously. So wireless communication is best option for such scenarios.
But is wireless communication is secure? , This is a big question come to our mind as wireless medium is accessible to all.
There are different ways to secure wireless communication. But what about signal jammers or smart Jammers. Jammers plays very important role in war. They can block all communication systems and will disrupt communication system. I shall explain different jamming technique and how to detect and locate them.
Also while this talk I shall be explaining Smart Radio GRID for major cities of India also for Borders which will have following features:
- Centralized Control
- Passively sniffing and decoding GSM / satellite Phones data
- Locate GSM /Satellite Phones.
- Jam Particular Channel or Frequency in case of emergency
- Locate Fake BTS, IMSI Catchers.
- This is about Wireless Network.
Let’s focus on Telecom Core Network.
Core Network of Telecom Network is mostly based on Traditional Telecom Protocol and uses mostly Equipments manufactured outside of India. Also Telecom Network is not popular among Hackers as their most focus is on IT side. There is awareness taking place in this area since last 4-5 years but there are no way one can learn assessing security of Telecom equipments as these devices are very costly and telecom operator are not very happy to allow hackers to test their network. There exist some core telecom protocol exploits which can cause network blackout , city wide denial of service causing huge revenue loss and panic.
Threat of Imported Communication Equipment.
There is a chance that imported equipments may have bug/malware/implementation flaw. These issues could be present either with purpose or by mistake. This talk shall explain steps taken by government and its outcome and how big these threat could be.
