Abstract

The power of human and computing systems is evolving and used by both sides in the security space. Bad actors are collaborating using technology (i.e. BBM, email, etc), creating a new threat that can be countered with human-computer symbiosis in public security. Security systems historically have been designed to deter each threat individually. However, the combination of these threats creates a new dynamic — looking at the fundamental attribute (friction) leads to computer systems that can improve net gains. The conclusion can be applied to building any computer system and understanding these fundamentals is valuable for any IT professional.
