Abstract

The talk will look at fundamental tenets of security. Most initiatives focus on protecting the infrastructure of the information i.e. applications, networks, servers, perimeters or hardware. Inspite of all this, incidents like Wikileaks teach us to not loose focus on the basics i.e. focus on protecting the real asset i.e. information itself. Technology approaches which focus on controlling information usage based on identity without reference to applications, networks and perimeters will be discussed. The impact of such approaches in the context of cloud computing with also be discussed.
